Take Action - Fight Credit Card Company Abuse
Make Your Senator Act Now for Credit Card Reform
In debt? Putting off marriage, children, buying a home? Do something. Make the Senate act now.
Debt is causing 14 percent of young adults to delay marriage, 20 percent to delay having children, and 40 percent to delay buying a home. And things are only getting worse. Our generation carries more debt than any generation to come before us. Average credit card debt among young adults increased by 55 percent between 1992 and 2001. Young people now have the second highest rate of bankruptcy, and the average indebted young adult spends almost a quarter of every dollar earned on debt payments. This is no way for our youngest workers to get started in life.
Take Action! Tell the Senate you need credit card reform!

What it Means to You
- No more unjustifiable rate increases on existing balances. Credit card companies would no longer be allowed to raise your interest rates when you pay an unrelated debt late or when your credit score drops.
- No more any time for any reason clauses. Credit card companies would no longer be able to raise your interest rates or fees at any time for any reason or for no reason at all.
- No more late fees for on-time payments. Credit card holders would no longer be able to set arbitrary and unpredictable due dates and times.
- Pay your most expensive debt off first. Credit card companies would no longer be able to force you to pay off your least expensive debt first.
