Have always found Edumunds.com useful. Here's what I would say about buying a car -- don't get one unless you absolutely need it. Take the subway or ride a bike. A car can be a hassle, especially in cities. And if you do need a car, get a hybrid. I got a used '02 Prius on the cheap and save even more at the pump.
