EUREKA!

I was taking a quiz on FaceBook the other day.  When I reached the end of the quiz, I was told that in order to find my results I had to invite thirty people to take the quiz.  I was quite frustrated because it seems like more often than not, online quizzes expect something in return.  I just wanted to be able to find out which Disney princess most described me and be done with it.

Luckily, I have access to a resource via my Qvisory membership that enables me to complete self-evaluations in peace.  It’s called EUREKA. As Qvisory's Work Content Manager, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the tools it has to offer.

For example, I took the “True Colors” quiz and found out that my true color is blue. According to the EUREKA tool, I may be one of the most loving, nurturing, and supportive people in the world.  When I viewed the results of the quiz I was pleased to see that the results are right on the mark (well, maybe I’m not the most nurturing person in the whole world, but I am pretty darn nurturing). The site then showed me a list of occupations, complete with full descriptions that matched my personality.  Funny enough, I could imagine myself doing almost all of them.

There are a number of other tools available through this site.  The OccuSort tool enables users to narrow down a huge number of occupations through sorting and elimination.  I can see this tool being very helpful to someone who is struggling to figure out what to do as a career.

The card sort and questionnaire give test-takers the opportunity to determine which of their skills they find most satisfying.  Yet again, this would be a tremendous resource for someone who is looking into changing professions and would like some direction.

Tests aren’t the only things offered on this site.  There are also full occupation descriptions which list the synonyms, personal characteristics, work environments, national pay and outlook, educational requirements, and skill requirements for a staggering number of professions.  There are also educational guides that can help you figure out how to attain the education you’ll need to do the job you want.

It is my goal to provide you with the best information I can.  To be honest, EUREKA is not the only site of its kind on the Internet.  There are dozens of sites out there that offer similar services for free.  The crucial difference, however, is the credibility and usefulness of the site.

We’ve sifted through numerous sites with similar offerings, and EUREKA offers the most useful tools with the least hassle.  There are no advertisements in the middle of quizzes, you'll never have to upgrade the tool in order to use it most effectively, and it provides trustworthy information.

If you’re starting your career, considering switching careers, or just trying to learn more about why you work the way you do, EUREKA is a great resource that has the potential to help make reaching your goals a lot easier.

I am a 20-something young professional with a background in Human Resources. I am the Work area content manager and as such have the privilege of indulging my love of research and blogging. I am extremely excited about Qvisory and can't wait to see how far we can take this concept. I truly believe that young Americans are faced with challenges unique to this generation and am committed to equipping them to succeed in this dynamic environment.
