Better deals are found on Craigslist every day. But how do we go about getting a better deal on the big issues that really matter in today’s economy? Today’s 18 to 34 year-olds face huge challenges with their money, health, and work. How to avoid getting into debt – or get out of it. How to obtain affordable, sensible health care insurance. How to ensure that jobs provide both financial support and personal satisfaction.
Qvisory is an organization that fights for a better deal – for you, and for all of us. In partnership with organizations like Demos, whose research and expertise we rely on (Tamara Draut, Economic Opportunity Program Director at Demos, is one of our expert money bloggers) our goal is to help you take control of your life. Tamara and other advocates, including Caleb Gibson, Federal Affairs Coordinator at Demos; Travis Plunkett, Legislative Director at Consumer Federation of America; Linda Sherry, Director of National Priorities for Consumer Action; and Kathleen Keest, Senior Policy Counsel for the Center for Responsible Lending, helped guide our campaign to reform credit card practices.
Collaborating on these issues is an important part of making change happen. As such, Qvisory is pleased to be a sponsor of Demos’ A Better Deal conference, to be held May 8 – 9 in Washington, DC. The conference will attract hundreds of young advocates and activists from around the country, all gathering to learn about the latest advocacy activities around the big issues: jobs, higher education, health care, housing, child care, debt, social demographics and their relationship to economics, and mobilizing young voters and activists.
The conference’s keynote speaker will be Andy Stern, who came up with the idea for Qvisory. I will be on a panel discussing health care. I’m particularly looking forward to hearing Jonathan Cohn, Michael Connery, Monique Scott, Luke Swarthout, and Gabe Pendas, among others. And I’ll be bringing along members of my team from Seattle, including Qvisory’s Health Content Manager, Billy Amon, and our Work Content Manager, Erika Mitchell. They’ll be on the prowl for smart writers who have expertise and experiences to share on our blog ... might that be you?
At the conference, Qvisory will be giving away free memberships to the first 100 attendees who sign up on our site – I urge you to attend and join us in building the movement to secure a better deal for this generation.
See you at the conference!
