Tips for Using MyEsafeDepositBox

Here are some tips to help you take full advantage of MyEsafeDepositBox:

• Add records to your account.
  • By fax: Simply load the document in your fax machine, type in your lifeline, and hit go.  You will be notified of the fax almost instantly through the Message Center in your account.
  • By computer: Click the Upload a Record button in the left-hand column of your MESDB homepage.  Browse for the record on your hard drive, fill out the pertinent file information, and hit Save.
• Change the access settings for your file folders.
  • Click on Manage File Folders under My Account.
  • The folders marked Accessible are available to people who have your emergency password.
  • The folders marked Not Accessible are available only to you.
• Change the names of your file folders.
  • Click on Manage File Folders under My Account.
  • Type the new name into the New Name textbox.
  • Note that you are unable to change the name of your Emergency Medical folder.
• Use your lifeline (the number you received with your membership) as a voicemail system.
  • In addition to faxing documents to your lifeline, you can also give the number to your medical providers.  They’ll be able to leave voicemail messages for you. When you receive a new voicemail, you’ll be automatically notified in the Message Center box in your MESDB account and by email. You can even listen to the message right there on your computer.
  • If your primary phone is your cell phone, this will also cut down on your phone bill. You won’t have to use your plan minutes to check voicemail messages.
• MESDB takes the highest precaution with protecting your records on their end (see Privacy and Security). You should do the same on your end by setting a secure password. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and characters.
• Rename, move, and delete your records.
  • Click on My Records.
  • Click the Edit link next to the record you’d like to modify.
  • You are able to change the filename, associated family member, folder it resides in, add notes, and delete the record.
