No matter how expensive or good quality vacuum cleaner you buy, if you don’t take good care of it, the vacuum cleaner won’t be able to perform at its best for long. So, you need to regularly take care of it. Here are some tips for taking care of your vacuum cleaner.
Regularly check the filters
You should rinse the filter with water if it is made up of foam. You should wash filters every six months. Before reinstalling the filter you should make sure that it’s completely dry. For an HEPA filter, you should check the manual to know how you should clean it.
Change the bag
Whenever your bag is two-third full, you should change it. It is recommended not to reuse a bag. Things like powders, soot, dust, plaster, etc. clog the bag. So, whenever you clean these, it is better to change the bag. For bagless vacuum cleaners, you should clear out the dirt collection bin.
Check the brush roll
Many things like hair, floss, string, etc. can get wrapped around the roll which prevents spinning of the brush. You should remove the roll and then get rid of these things. You can then wash the roll with soap and water.
Check the belt
You should check the belt that holds the roll. It should be attached to the roll tightly; otherwise, you will need to replace it. If the belt is stretched out or if it slides out of place, then you need to replace it.
If there is any major problem with the functionality of your vacuum then you will have to take it to the shop to repair it. These tips will help you to keep your vacuum cleaners in good working conditions and you will experience fewer problems with it.
